Canoeing and Kayak Program

 Western Colorado Council Canoe Rental $25.00 per day

 

 

Units now have the option to rent our 8 canoes for $25.00 per day, which includes trailer, paddles, and life jackets.

 

Leaders and Scouts must complete Safety Afloat and

Safe Swim Defense before renting.

 

Scouts and Leaders can use their own canoes on outings as long as all trips are planned according to the Guide to Safe Scouting.

 

You must wear the proper safety gear at all times during your trek. 

PFD (Personal Flotation Device) and Helmet

Waiver should be signed by parent. (link to waiver coming soon).

Units now have the option to rent up to 20 sit on top Kayaks.

 

Leaders and Scouts must complete Safety Afloat and

Safe Swim Defense before renting. 

 

Scouts and Leaders can use their own kayaks on outings as long as all trips are planned according to the Guide to Safe Scouting.

 

You must wear the proper safety gear at all times during your trek.

Group size is limited to 20 kayakers and are on first come first serve basis.

 

Kayaking treks available:

Loma to West Water- 5-8 hour trek

Grand Junction to Fruita- 4 hour trek

Fruita to Loma- 4 mile trek

Pallisade to Grand Junction- (only fun in high water, low water levels not advised)

Grey Canyon Trek- 6-7 miles (Take out at BLM boat ramp)

 

Any other locations must have prior approval.

 

These kayaks belong to an individual who will deliver kayaks to drop off location and pick up at river exit location.
