    Scout Show 2019

    When: Saturday, April 27, 2019
Where: National Western Stock Show Complex, Hall of Education
4655 Humboldt Street, Denver, CO 80216
    Time: 10:00 am - 4:00 pm

The purpose of the annual Denver Area Council Scout Show is to showcase the Scouting program in a way that is accessible to both internal and external customers. It is an opportunity for program enhancement and recruiting for our existing units and a means to introduce Scouting to potential new chartered partners. By having outside vendors participate in the Mid-Way, we give unit leadership access to resources not otherwise readily available.

The Scout Show is a fun, hands-on opportunity for your Scouts to see the “bigger picture” of Scouting.

NYLT Presents Introduction to Leadership Skills for Troops (ILST)

Denver Area Council National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT) leadership is running two opportunities for Scouts and Venturers to complete Introduction to Leadership Skills for Troops (ILST) training at Scout Show! Click here to register!

There will be two sessions available:

    • Morning: 9am-12pm, hosted by Week 4 Scoutmaster Randy Bruns and his staff
    • Afternoon: 12pm-3pm, hosted by Week 5 Scoutmaster Steve Yexley and his staff

Both sessions will be held during Scout Show at National Western Stock Show Complex, Hall of Education (4655 Humboldt Street, Denver, CO 80216). Cost of the course is free.

The purpose of the ILST course is to teach Scouts with leadership positions about their new roles and how to most effectively reach success in that role. It is intended to help Scouts in leadership positions within their troop understand their responsibilities and to equip them with organizational and leadership skills to fulfill those responsibilities.

    Booth Information and Set-up

Where should I request my booth to be set up?

There are three areas to have a booth. You may request an area when you register.

    • Hall of Education: inside the main building, concrete floors, 12-foot ceilings, 10x10' pipe and drape booth space. If you need a booth larger than 10 x 10' indicate your needs when you register.
    • Arena: lower level, inside, dirt floor and 35-foot ceilings. Great for pioneering and obstacle courses.
    • Outside:  Asphalt area outside and to the south of the Hall of Education. Good for cooking demos, model campsites, Tee-Pees and other large displays.

Is there a registration fee to have a booth?

For Scouting units and Council activities and committees, there is no registration fee to have a booth. However, your unit is responsible for your own supplies, set up and clean up.

    Will I have a pre-assigned booth location?

Booth space in the Hall of Education is pre-assigned. In the Arena and Outside there are no defined booth spaces. There is room for all and you may pick your spot upon set-up arrival. Staff will be on hand to help you. If you choose the Hall of Education, an email will be sent a few days prior to the show. The email will be sent to the person who registers for the booth, indicating your unit's booth number.

    When is set up?

Set up begins Friday, April 26, 2019, at noon and goes until 7:00 pm and again on Saturday, April 27, 2019, from 7:00 am until 9:30 am. You may bring a vehicle into the building on both days. Drop your supplies off at your assigned booth, remove your vehicle, and come back in to set up. Last vehicle in on Saturday will be at 8:30 am and all vehicles must be out by 9:00 am.

All Scouting units that have a booth will receive a 2019 Scout Show Participation ribbon. A special Scout Show pin will be available for purchase at the Scout Show.

    Program Preview

Program Preview will be held at 11:00 am during the Scout Show. Signs will indicate the location.

    Camp Card

How does the Camp Card relate to Scout Show?

The Camp Card is a stand-alone fundraiser that we encourage you to participate in. You will register for the sale separately from Scout Show after the first of the year. A Camp Card will be your admittance to the Scout Show and your unit will earn $1.00 per Camp Card sold for registering and manning a 2019 Scout Show booth.

The Camp Card will admit your entire family to the Scout Show. All Scouts (yes, Girl Scouts of the USA, too) that are in uniform are admitted free. All other adults, family members (over age 7) and visitors must show a Camp Card or purchase one at the ticket window inside the main entrance.
